Simulations of LASIK-induced Visual Abberations

Because there are many ways the cornea can become irregular after LASIK, there is wide variations in the kinds of aberations reported by patients. Some patients report a single visual symptom, perhaps ghosting, whereas others report ghosting, starbursting, glare, smear, loss of contrast sensitivity (difficulty seeing fine detail) or halos. There is no standardized classification system for visual aberrations, simply because the LASIK industry did not find it necessary to research this terrible consequence of LASIK before unleashing its technology on the public.
